  • The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) — the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world aims to reach 5 million farmers worldwide with more sustainable agricultural practices, and account for 30% of global cotton production by 2020. In less than 10 years, the Better Cotton
  • Initiative and its Partners have supported over 1.6 million farmers in 23 countries in adopting more sustainable agricultural practices. Thanks to these efforts, Better Cotton accounts for around 15% of global cotton production. We are truly a joint effort, encompassing stakeholders all the way from farms to fashion brands and civil society organisations, driving the cotton sector toward sustainability.   • BCI is seeking a highly motivated and qualified professional to step in as Master Agronomist
  • (MA) in Pakistan. Under the line management of the BCI Pakistan Country Manager and support of IDH Cotton Program Manager, the Master Agronomist (MA) will support the successful, rapidly expanding implementation of the Better Cotton program in
  • Pakistan. This vacancy comes as a result of the renewed partnership between BCI
  • Pakistan and Cotton Australia (CA), for establishing a direct support program to Better
  • Cotton Implementing Partners (IPs), with CA expertise. This assignment is designed for fix term of 1 year and aims to further build capacity of BCI IPs, increase knowledge transfer between experts of cotton in Australia and Pakistan and support the Pakistan farmers with improved and sustainable access to information on better farming practices. As a result, the
  • MA will take active lead in IPs capacity building, partnership management, online information management, performance evaluation and developmental needs evaluation of
  • Implementation Partners (IPs), facilitate information flows, and day to day technical support to field staff on Cotton Agronomy and Sustainable Cotton Production.
  • With relation to the learning agenda with CA, the MA will be in charge of designing a learning agenda for knowledge exchange, coordinate with CA on a regular basis to feed expertise back to IPs, and arrange monthly knowledge platform meetings between IPs, CA and BCI.
  • Finally, the MA will ensure that all queriesfrom field, on technical aspects of cotton production, are proper received, handled and solution are provided
