FOCUS is an NGO that aims to provide opportunities in society for universal access to CS and related fields. The organization proposes implementation of sustainable ecosystem that supports the necessary cycle between knowledge transfer and knowledge discovery. The FOCUS CS curriculum develops a holistic learning experience for the students with the aim to impact a comprehensive CS education. The curriculum includes the following five strands:

• Computational Thinking
• Computer Systems
• Computer Programming
• Information Technology
• Digital Citizenship

FOCUS seeks a UI/UX that could potentially play their part in enriching the student’s and teacher’s learning experience. At this stage, a section of the FOCUS curriculum exists in the form of written books. However, we would like a component of our curriculum to be exist interactively. A big challenge that we face is a lack of facilities such as internet availability at underprivileged schools. FOCUS also intends a learning system in the future with exercises for providing additional guidance to both teachers and students.

The ideal candidate is expected to be able to both read and write code. Should be able to read the appropriate documentation and integrate the required functionality with the current ecosystem/framework.The candidate should also be able to collaborate with a back-end developer for improving usability. The candidate should also have the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

The candidate should:

• have at least 6 to 12 months experience in designing web applications.
• have development experience for both mobile and desktop.
• have hands on experience with markup languages such as HTML5.
• be proficient in CSS, Javascript and JQuery. 
• be experienced in at least one of the following: Django, React, Redux, Bootstrap
• be familiar with browser testing and debugging
• have hands on experience with the frameworks Angular and NodeJS.
• have familiarity with database technology such as MySQL or MongoDB
• have good problem solving skills.
• have basic fluency with one of the following programming languages: Python, Unity, Go, C#.
• have experience working with graphic designers and converting designs to visual elements.
• be experienced with source version control such as Bit-Bucket or Git
• have experience in object oriented programming. Familiarity with functional programming is a plus.
